My story

about world saver

Hi, I'm Lawrence Hon. I'm the founder of World Saver. I always love nature. I enjoy hiking and biking at different state parks, and my favorite sport in high school is cross country because I like being outdoor. However, as extreme weather happens more often, I have witnessed lots of flooding around where I live, and I saw so many toppled trees after each storm. This hurt me a lot because not only our environment got destroyed, so are people's homes and their lives. The worst thing is that this phenomenon is not only happening in New York or other states, this is happening across the world like a norm! For example, California experienced nine powerful atmospheric rivers from 12/26/22 to 1/11/23, its state's infrastructure was ruined, and at least 20 people have been killed by deluge. In Africa, Cyclone Batsirai hit Madagascar in February 2022, the deah toll reached 120 and 124,000 people had their homes destroyed. The United Kingdom went through the hottest summer in 2022, a record-breaking 40.3 degree celsius was recorded on 7/19/22, causing 2,800 excess deaths in people over 65.

I don't think anyone would like to experience any kind of extreme weather. Sadly, as a Gen Z, I grew up watching news about tornados, droughts, wildfires, raising sea level and temperature almost daily. It is a devastating truth that extreme weather is becoming part of our lives. The good news is, according to NASA, and the U. S. National Academy of Sciences, reversing global warming is possible if we take steps to stop polluting our planet now. That's why I started the World Saver: I want to use screensavers to help spread awareness and knowledge about climate change. Each screensaver is uniquely created by me, and I believe they can serve as a reminder to be eco-friendly. World Saver is also a platform where I share tips that everyone can take to REDUCE, REUSE, and RECYCLE. Plus, you will find environmental news here. I hope you will enjoy World Saver, and let's start reversing the climate crisis today!

How do I make my art?

I use the free open-source software Blender to create my artworks.  I mainly learned Blender from Blender Guru’s iconic donut course and hundreds of other YouTube tutorials. I have so much gratitude for all the free information available online for everyone to use. Making digital arts became one of my favorite hobbies. I started learning Blender back in 2019. Recently, I began making animated short films by using Blender software, too. That’s lots of fun! I will continue to make more artworks and share them with you. I hope you will enjoy them.
